Breaking News: Border 2's Fever Reaches New Heights, Late-Night Shows Added, and Cinemas Nationwide Join the Rush!
Border 2 has ignited a nationwide frenzy, and cinemas are responding with unprecedented late-night screenings!
The highly anticipated sequel has received unanimous praise from audiences and critics alike, and its popularity is set to soar even higher. Recognizing the immense demand, MovieMax, a leading cinema chain, has taken the lead by organizing post-midnight screenings of the war drama on Saturday, January 24, at key locations across the country.
But here's where it gets controversial...
In Mumbai, Border 2 enthusiasts can catch the film at 1:20 am at MovieMax Huma Kanjurmarg. MovieMax Sion and Mira Road are also offering shows at 1:15 am. Pune's MovieMax Amanora is going all out with six shows between 12 am and 8 am, including 1:15 am, 1:45 am, 2:15 am, 3:00 am, 7:00 am, and 7:30 am. This property will showcase an incredible 30 shows of Border 2 daily! MovieMax Gold in Pune will also join the late-night frenzy with screenings at 1:15 am, 2:15 am, and 3:15 am. MovieMax Nagpur has scheduled a show at 1:15 am.
And this is the part most people miss...
Other cinemas are quickly following suit. Maxus, a pioneer in post-midnight shows, will screen Border 2 at 12:45 am, followed by a 7:00 am show at their Bhayander theatre near Mumbai. PVR Sangam in Andheri East, Mumbai, has scheduled a 1:55 am show. As the demand continues to surge, more cinemas are expected to jump on the bandwagon. These late-night and early morning screenings won't be limited to just January 24; they'll also be available on January 25 and 26, including the National Holiday for Republic Day.
Border 2 boasts an impressive cast, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. With its positive buzz and expanded late-night offerings, the film is poised to dominate the weekend and Republic Day, potentially breaking box-office records nationwide.
A Historical Perspective on Post-Midnight Shows
The trend of post-midnight screenings gained traction in the post-pandemic era. Sooryavanshi (2021) pioneered this initiative, and it was followed by a string of successful films, including Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Drishyam 2 (2022), Jawan (2023), Pathaan (2023), Avatar: The Way Of Water (2022), Oppenheimer (2023), Gadar 2 (2023), Animal (2023), Stree 2 (2024), F1: The Movie (2025), Sitaare Zameen Par (2025), and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (2025). Dhurandhar was the most recent film to achieve this feat before Border 2.
