Exposed: White House's AI Propaganda Against Anti-ICE Protesters (2026)

The fight for justice continues as two women, arrested for disrupting anti-ICE church services, are now free! This story highlights a powerful clash between protest and authority, and the surprising twists that followed.

Nekima Levy Armstrong and Chauntyll Allen, who were taken into custody after their involvement in a demonstration against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that interrupted Sunday services at a St. Paul, Minnesota church, have been released from detention. Imagine the relief and renewed spirit as they emerged on Friday, their fists raised in solidarity and warm embraces from loved ones. "Thank you all for being here," Levy Armstrong shared, her voice filled with emotion, adding, "Glory to God!"

But here's where it gets controversial... A federal judge ordered their release earlier that day, stating that the government hadn't provided sufficient reason to keep them detained. The judge essentially said the government couldn't prove that detention was necessary or appropriate. This ruling also extended to a third activist, William Kelly, who was involved in the same protest. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that the judge found him not to be a public danger.

And this is the part most people miss... Just days before their release, on a Thursday, the White House found itself in hot water. They posted a digitally altered image of Armstrong's arrest on social media. This manipulated photo falsely depicted her as crying and even darkened her skin tone. The caption, in all caps, declared: "Arrested far-left agitator Nekima Levy Armstrong for orchestrating church riots in Minnesota."

This deception was quickly unraveled by news outlets, including The Guardian. It turned out that the Homeland Security Secretary had initially posted the original, unedited image, which showed Armstrong looking quite composed. Later, Armstrong's non-profit, the Racial Justice Network, released a video of her arrest, recorded by her husband, Marques Armstrong. This video powerfully demonstrated the extent to which the White House had distorted reality, creating what could be seen as propaganda to discredit her.

The video shows a striking exchange where Armstrong, while being detained, politely asked the agents why they were recording her. "I’m asking you to please treat me with dignity and respect," she said. When an agent replied, "We have to put you in handcuffs," and another began recording, Armstrong reiterated, "Why are you recording? I would ask that you not record." The filming agent's response, "It’s not going to be on Twitter. It’s not going to be on anything like that," and "We don’t want to create a false narrative," seems particularly ironic given the White House's subsequent actions.

Throughout the more than seven-minute video, which shows her being handcuffed and placed in a government vehicle, Armstrong remained composed. She even engaged in a conversation with the agents, stating, "You know that this is a significant abuse of power. Because I refuse to be silent in the face of brutality from ICE." The agent filming responded, "I’m not in here to get in a political debate."

In an audio message shared by her spokesperson, Armstrong suggested that the Trump administration had used AI to manipulate images of her arrest. She declared, "We are being politically persecuted for speaking out against authoritarianism, fascism and the tyranny of the Trump administration." She recorded this message from jail on Friday morning during a call with her husband.

Armstrong's statement, released with the arrest video, powerfully articulated her stance: "I surrendered myself peacefully, deliberately, and with intention. I demanded dignity, humanity, and respect, not just for myself, but for every person who has ever been brutalized, silenced, or disappeared by unchecked government power. We stood in protest because families are being torn apart, communities terrorized, and constitutional rights trampled. And we will not be intimidated into silence."

What do you think about the use of altered images in political discourse? Is it ever justifiable, or does it always undermine public trust? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
